Web 2.0 Tools as Teaching Resources
What are web tools and why should we use them in a classroom?
The Alpha generation are digital natives. From an early on in their lives technology has been the go to fixture to all problems. It shapes who they are as individuals this includes how they interact with others and the world around them (Vivi, 2022).
Learners of the 21st century require a unique educational approach, techniques from the past are no longer effective as they used to be (Vivi, 2022).
Incorporating technology into classrooms enables educators to interact with students on their level. Educational Technology offers teachers access to materials that are easily accessible by both students and the teacher (Vivi, 2022).
Technology allows for more creative and effective teaching strategies that learners will benefit from. it helps prepare students for the future, students can learn at their own pace. This enables learners to follow individualized instruction according to their needs and abilities (J, Cox. 2022).
There are a range of amazing tools available to use as resources withing the classroom. Below are some popular and current trends for the educational context:
-Socrative - Is a system that allows educators to generate exercises and educational games where students can solve using devices such as smartphones, laptops, or tablets. teachers can see the students results and further modify future lessons (A, Chauhan. 2018).
-TED-Ed - Is an educational platform that allows teachers to create academic content into lessons through collaboration with other teachers, students and other key stakeholders who want to expand their current knowledge (A, Chauhan. 2022).
-Kahoot - Is an Educational platform based on games and questions. Kahoot promotes learning which increase engagement levels of students and further creates a dynamic, social, fun educational environment (A, Chauhan, 2022).
-ClassDojo - Is an educational tool to help improve on student behaviour. This tool helps provide important feedback to those who are behaving in which they are then rewarded with points. The information that is gathered through the tool is collected then later shared with parents and other key stakeholders (A, Chauhan, 2022).
Below is a link to Adobe Spark where I have created a short resource for students to use while completing their design brief on Ethical Fashion.
